Park Overview

Universal Studios Florida combines rides, shows and themed environments based around film, television and popular franchises. Areas include Illumination’s Minion Land, New York, San Francisco, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, World Expo, Springfield, U.S.A., DreamWorks Land and Hollywood.

The park is largely step-free for general circulation and is more compact than some of Orlando’s larger theme parks, but there can still be substantial walking or wheeling over a full day. Most attraction queues are designed to accommodate standard wheelchairs, while ECV users may need to transfer to a standard wheelchair before entering many queues. Attraction boarding requirements vary, so check the individual attraction pages for detailed wheelchair access, transfers and sensory information.

Getting There & Leaving

How to reach the park, what the arrival actually involves, and what to expect when it’s time to head home.

Your journey to the park The main ways you’ll get from where you’re staying to the park entrance.

Universal hotel → shuttle bus, water taxi or walking route → CityWalk → Universal Studios Florida entrance

Driving or rideshare → Universal parking/transport hub → security → CityWalk → Universal Studios Florida entrance

Staying On-Site Hotel shuttles, water taxis and walking routes

Universal hotel guests have complimentary transport to the main Universal Orlando resort area. Depending on the hotel, this may be by shuttle bus, water taxi or a paved walking route into CityWalk.

Shuttle buses: Universal resort shuttles use fold-out ramps for wheelchair access and have designated wheelchair spaces onboard. Wheelchair users can remain in their wheelchair in the designated space. ECV users may need to transfer depending on the vehicle and current boarding arrangements, so ask the driver or Team Member if you are unsure.

Water taxis: accessible water taxi service is available from Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific and Sapphire Falls. Ask the dock Team Member for assistance with the boarding arrangement for your particular mobility device.

Walking routes: several Universal hotels have paved routes into the CityWalk/park area. These avoid boarding a vehicle but can involve a meaningful amount of distance, so they are not automatically the easier option for every guest.

Water taxis arrive within CityWalk, leaving a shorter final route to the park than arriving through the parking garages.

Driving & Parking Parking costs, accessible parking and the route in

Universal Studios Florida shares the main Universal Orlando parking garages with Islands of Adventure and CityWalk at 6000 Universal Boulevard.

Regular self-parking: $35. Prepaid parking is also available through Universal, with the current price shown when booking. Prime parking: $50–$60. RV/bus parking: $45. Prices include tax.

Accessible parking is available with a valid disability placard or licence plate. Elevators provide the accessible route between parking levels and the pedestrian/transport level, and courtesy wheelchairs are available near the first elevator bank on the third floor for guests who need assistance reaching the park rental locations.

After leaving the garage you still travel through the security hub and CityWalk before reaching Universal Studios Florida. This is a substantial part of the arrival journey rather than a short walk from the car.

Posted signage directs wheelchairs away from the moving walkways; use the adjacent standard paths instead.

Rideshare & Off-Site Uber, Lyft, taxis and hotel shuttles

Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and CityWalk share a rideshare/taxi pickup and drop-off location in the North Parking Garage at 6000 Universal Boulevard.

From there, you still pass through the main pedestrian/security route and CityWalk before reaching Universal Studios Florida.

Standard rideshare vehicles may require a wheelchair user to transfer into the car and store the wheelchair. If remaining in the wheelchair is necessary, arrange a wheelchair-accessible vehicle rather than assuming a standard Uber or Lyft will work.

Off-site hotel shuttles may also use the main transportation area. Check both the accessibility of the actual shuttle vehicle and the final collection time, especially if you are staying for an evening event.

Leaving at Night Closing-time crowds, pickups and getting back

Leaving Universal Studios Florida means walking back through CityWalk, the security/transport hub and then towards the parking garage or rideshare area, so the journey is longer than simply reaching the park gate.

This route can become heavily congested at park closing and particularly after major events. Wheelchair and ECV users should use the standard paths beside the moving walkways.

Resort hotel guests using a shuttle or water taxi should follow the current CityWalk transport signage. ECV users using a Universal resort shuttle need to transfer into shuttle seating.

Rideshare pickups use the North Parking Garage. Waiting until you are close to the designated pickup area before ordering the vehicle can avoid having the driver arrive while you are still making the journey through CityWalk.

Regular self-parking is normally free after 6pm on eligible nights, but not on Halloween Horror Nights event nights or New Year’s Eve, and this offer does not apply to Epic Universe.

Accessibility & Planning

Practical information to help you plan your day and know what support and facilities are available around the park.

Guest Services

Guest Services is available in several locations around Universal Studios Florida. There is a location outside the park entrance, another inside the park after you pass through the entrance gates, and an additional Guest Services location in Universal CityWalk.

If you need help with accessibility arrangements, tickets, park information or another issue, you do not necessarily need to enter the park first to speak to someone.

Guests who need a queue accommodation should follow the current IBCCES Individual Accessibility Card process before their visit where possible. Guests who only need mobility-device access do not need an IAC simply because they use a wheelchair or ECV.

Mobility & Rentals

Manual wheelchairs and ECVs are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis. Wheelchair rental is located at the park entrance, while ECV rental is just inside the main entrance turnstiles at the stroller rental facility.

Manual wheelchairs currently cost $15 per day. Standard ECVs cost $75 per day and canopy ECVs $95 per day. A rental contract is required, and availability later in the day is not guaranteed.

Most attraction queues and ride vehicles do not accommodate ECVs. At attractions that can accommodate a standard wheelchair, an ECV user may need to transfer to a wheelchair provided at the attraction before entering the queue. If you cannot transfer to a standard wheelchair, speak to an Attractions Attendant before joining the queue.

Quiet & Low-Sensory Spaces

A dedicated Quiet Room is available in Family Health Services at the front of the park.

Other places that may offer a break from heavier crowds and stimulation include the New York Public Library area, Health Services near Louie’s Italian Restaurant, and Central Park along the lagoon. Additional lower-traffic options can include the Music Plaza area at quieter times, the Diagon Alley exit pathway beside Sugarplum’s Sweetshop, where benches are available in the alcove, and the Coca-Cola Refreshment Station in World Expo beside MIB Gear.

Conditions in the outdoor locations can vary with crowds, entertainment and time of day, so the dedicated Quiet Room is the most predictable option when a more controlled space is needed.

First Aid & Medical Support

The main First Aid facility is in New York next to Louie’s Italian Restaurant. A satellite First Aid facility is also available near the front of the park beside Lost and Found.

First Aid is staffed by registered nurses and professional paramedics. Nursing facilities are available, chilled medication can be stored, and adult changing tables are available at First Aid. Ask any Team Member for help or directions if medical assistance is needed.

Lockers & Storage

All-day lockers are available near the front of the park on a first-come, first-served basis, with unlimited access throughout the day. Current rates are $15 per day for a large locker and $20 per day for a family-size locker.

Some attractions also provide separate lockers for loose articles. Standard ride lockers are complimentary for the calculated amount of time needed to queue for and experience the attraction, so the free period varies with the current wait rather than being a fixed number of minutes. Larger lockers or lockers kept beyond the complimentary period may involve an additional charge.

Ride lockers are available at attractions including Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack and Revenge of the Mummy.

Accessible & Companion Restrooms

Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available in restrooms throughout Universal Studios Florida. Companion/family restrooms provide a more private option for guests who need assistance from a companion or caregiver.

Family restrooms can be found near the front of the park by Health Services; in New York to the left of Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon; at Health Services between New York and San Francisco; in San Francisco across from Richter’s Burger Co.; in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley across from The Fountain of Fair Fortune; near the Springfield/DreamWorks Land side of the park; and in Hollywood near Mel’s Drive-In.

Adult changing tables are available at First Aid.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley

↑ Back to areas
Practical accessibility

Diagon Alley has step-free guest routes, but its narrow streets, enclosed layout and concentration of shops, dining and entertainment can make the area feel crowded even when the wider park is relatively quiet.

Knockturn Alley is noticeably darker and cooler than the main Diagon Alley streets, with lower lighting and a more enclosed atmosphere. That can make it feel calmer for some visitors, but the darker environment may be less comfortable for others.

The exit pathway beside Sugarplum’s Sweetshop includes an alcove with benches and can provide a useful place to step away from the busiest streets.
