EPCOT
Park Overview
EPCOT is divided into four main neighbourhoods: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature and World Showcase. The park combines rides and large-scale attractions with aquariums, gardens, cultural pavilions, films, exhibitions, seasonal festivals and nighttime entertainment.
EPCOT covers a large area, particularly once World Showcase is included, so visitors can expect substantial walking or wheeling during a full day. Public routes are generally step-free, but distances between attractions can be significant and festival periods can make some World Showcase pathways considerably more crowded. EPCOT also has two guest entrances, the main entrance near Spaceship Earth and International Gateway between the France and United Kingdom pavilions, which can make a meaningful difference to where your day begins and ends. Attraction boarding requirements vary, so check individual attraction pages for detailed wheelchair access, transfer and sensory information.
Getting There & Leaving
How to reach the park, what the arrival actually involves, and what to expect when it’s time to head home.
Disney Resort hotel → Disney bus or monorail → EPCOT main entrance
Skyliner-area or EPCOT-area Resort → Disney Skyliner, FriendShip Boat or walking route → International Gateway
Driving or rideshare → EPCOT parking/drop-off area → main entrance
Staying On-Site Resort buses, monorail, Skyliner, boats and walking routes
Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels may reach EPCOT by bus, monorail, Disney Skyliner, FriendShip Boat or on foot, depending on where they are staying.
Disney buses: wheelchair and ECV users can remain in their mobility device. The bus uses an accessible ramp/lift at the rear door, the mobility device rolls aboard and is secured in one of the designated spaces. Most buses can accommodate up to two mobility devices. ECV users are encouraged to transfer to a regular seat if they are able.
Monorail: the EPCOT line connects the Transportation and Ticket Center with the park’s main entrance. Wheelchair and ECV users can remain in their mobility device, with ramps or elevators providing access to the platform and Cast Members assisting with boarding.
Disney Skyliner: this arrives at International Gateway, between the United Kingdom and France areas of World Showcase. Wheelchair and ECV users can remain in their mobility device; accessible boarding allows additional time to roll into and out of the gondola rather than requiring a transfer.
FriendShip Boats: these serve the EPCOT-area resorts and arrive at International Gateway. Accessibility can vary with the boat in use and water conditions, so check the boarding arrangement with the Cast Member at the dock before relying on the boat with a wheelchair or ECV.
BoardWalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin are also connected to International Gateway by paved walking routes, allowing a wheelchair or ECV user to travel directly without boarding another vehicle.
Driving & Parking Parking costs, accessible parking and the route in
EPCOT has its own car park beside the main entrance. Driving does not bring you to International Gateway.
Standard parking: $35 per day for a car or motorcycle. Preferred parking: $50, $55 or $60 depending on date. Oversized vehicles: $40. One Disney theme-park parking payment is valid at all four Walt Disney World theme parks for that day, and standard parking is included for registered Disney Resort hotel guests and eligible Annual Passholders.
Guests with a valid disability parking permit can use the Disability Parking Lot, located a shorter distance from the main entrance. Standard parking charges still apply.
Courtesy parking trams serve the regular parking areas, but someone who needs to remain in a wheelchair or ECV should use the accessible parking route rather than assume the tram can carry their device.
Rideshare & Off-Site Uber, Lyft, taxis and hotel shuttles
Uber, Lyft, taxis and most off-site transport arrive on the main-entrance side of EPCOT, rather than at International Gateway.
A standard rideshare vehicle will usually require a wheelchair user to transfer into the vehicle and the wheelchair to be folded or stored if space allows. If the guest needs to remain in their wheelchair, arrange a wheelchair-accessible vehicle rather than assuming a standard car will be suitable.
Accessible Minnie Vans can be booked through the Lyft app and provide two spaces for mobility devices, allowing guests to remain in their wheelchair or ECV during the journey.
Off-site hotel shuttles vary in both timetable and accessibility. Check where the shuttle drops off, whether the vehicle can accommodate your mobility device and what time the final return leaves before relying on it.
Leaving at Night Closing-time crowds, pickups and getting back
EPCOT’s two entrances make end-of-night planning particularly important. If you arrived through International Gateway from a nearby Resort, Skyliner or FriendShip Boat, leaving through that entrance usually makes sense. If your car is in EPCOT’s main parking lot, you need to return to the main entrance.
Wheelchair and ECV users can use the Skyliner without transferring, but the system normally closes 90 minutes after EPCOT or Hollywood Studios closes. The Skyliner also cannot be used to reach EPCOT’s main parking lot after EPCOT has closed, so do not exit through International Gateway expecting to use it as a shortcut back to your car.
Disney buses and the monorail can become busy after nighttime entertainment. Accessible spaces on buses are limited, so a wheelchair or ECV user may occasionally need to wait for another bus even when ambulatory guests are still boarding.
Allow extra time after Luminous and at park closing, particularly if you need to travel from World Showcase all the way back to the main entrance.
Accessibility & Planning
Practical information to help you plan your day and know what support and facilities are available around the park.
Guest Services
Guest Relations is available at both EPCOT entrances: the main entrance at the front of the park and International Gateway between the France and United Kingdom pavilions. It can help with accessibility information, ticket questions and upgrades, Lost and Found, separated guest assistance and general park support. Disney’s Guest Experience Team can also be found around the park and can help with day-of-visit questions, My Disney Experience, wait times and general guidance. Disability Access Service (DAS) registration is handled through Disney’s Accessibility Services rather than being completed in person at Guest Relations.
Mobility & Rentals
Manual wheelchairs and ECVs can be rented at both the EPCOT Main Entrance and International Gateway on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted and quantities are limited.
Manual wheelchairs currently cost $12 per day, or $10 per day with an eligible multi-day Length of Stay rental. ECVs cost $65 per day with a refundable $20 deposit. Guests must be at least 18 years old and provide photo ID to rent either type. Disney wheelchairs have a maximum stated weight of 350 lb and ECVs 450 lb.
Rental wheelchairs and ECVs cannot be removed from the destination where they were issued. If park hopping, return the device and keep your receipt; another wheelchair or ECV can be collected at the next Disney park without paying the daily rental charge again, subject to availability. EPCOT is unusual in having rental locations at both of its entrances, which can be particularly useful for guests arriving from the EPCOT-area resorts, Disney Skyliner or Friendship Boats through International Gateway.
Quiet & Low-Sensory Spaces
EPCOT does not have dedicated sensory rooms, but a number of locations may offer somewhere to take a break when you need some downtime. In World Celebration, options include areas throughout the neighbourhood and the area near the Imagination Pavilion restrooms. In World Nature, the space between The Seas with Nemo & Friends and Coral Reef Restaurant can offer somewhere to step away from busier surroundings. In World Discovery, the area near Mission: SPACE and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Around World Showcase, suggested break locations include the accessible ramp to the right of the Mexico pavilion; the corridor between Norway and China; the area beside the Temple of Heaven in China; the seating nook beside Pizza Al Taglio in Italy; the corridor between Joffrey’s Coffee and Regal Eagle Smokehouse at The American Adventure; the garden seating area in Japan; the area near Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco; the waterfront area between France and the United Kingdom; the United Kingdom gardens; and the garden walkway towards Le Cellier in Canada.
These are suggested places to take a break rather than guaranteed quiet zones, so crowd levels, festival activity and entertainment noise can vary. First Aid and quick-service seating areas during quieter periods are also suggested options.
First Aid & Medical Support
First Aid is located in the Odyssey building between World Discovery and the Mexico pavilion. Nurses are available during normal park operating hours and can provide over-the-counter medication, bandages and other basic medical assistance.
First Aid can also refrigerate medication, provide sharps-disposal containers and hold certain medical equipment. Its restroom facilities provide additional space and privacy for personal care, with exam tables and large cots that can be used as adult changing surfaces. If further medical treatment is needed, complimentary transportation to AdventHealth Centra Care can be arranged through First Aid.
Lockers & Storage
Keyless lockers are available for all-day rental on a first-come, first-served basis. The main locker area is just inside EPCOT’s main entrance, to the right of Spaceship Earth. Storage is also available near the International Gateway entrance between the France and United Kingdom pavilions.
EPCOT currently offers small lockers measuring 12 × 10 × 17 inches for $10 per day, large lockers measuring 15.5 × 13 × 17 inches for $12 per day and jumbo lockers measuring 17 × 22 × 26 inches for $15 per day. Jumbo lockers are available at the main entrance; the International Gateway storage option does not offer the same jumbo lockers. Cash and major credit cards can be used at the self-service kiosk, while guests paying with a Disney band or Disney Gift Card need assistance from the merchandise location nearest the lockers.
Accessible & Companion Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are available throughout EPCOT, alongside single-stall, gender-neutral companion restrooms that provide additional space and privacy for a guest with a companion or caregiver.
Disney currently lists companion restrooms at The American Adventure, France, World Discovery, Germany, The Land first floor, Morocco, Norway, Rose Walk, Spaceship Earth East, World Nature, CommuniCore Hall, the United Kingdom and several other locations around the park. Some companion restrooms have manual-flush toilets for guests who prefer more control over the flushing sound.
EPCOT also has a dedicated adult changing table in the Companion Restroom at CommuniCore Hall & Plaza. Guests who need additional privacy or another adult changing option can use First Aid, where exam tables and large cots are available.
