Overview
Journey Into Imagination with Figment is a slow-moving dark ride through the Imagination Institute, where Dr Nigel Channing attempts to demonstrate how the five senses influence imagination.
Figment has other ideas.
You travel through a series of themed laboratories devoted to sight, sound and smell before the experiment becomes increasingly chaotic and Figment takes over completely.
The ride moves at a gentle pace with no drops, sudden acceleration or spinning. Most of the experience is about the scenery, sounds, lighting and practical effects happening around you.
The ride lasts around eight minutes.
Queue Details
The queue is mainly indoors and air-conditioned.
Most of the route is flat, although there is one incline along the way.
When the attraction is busy, the queue can extend outdoors before you enter the Imagination Institute.
Wheelchair and ECV users can remain in their mobility device throughout the queue.
The indoor sections pass through laboratory-style displays and themed areas before reaching the loading platform.
Transfer Info
No transfer is required.
Wheelchair users can remain seated in their own wheelchair throughout the attraction using the wheelchair-accessible ride vehicle.
At the loading platform, the side of the accessible vehicle opens and a ramp is lowered.
You roll directly up the ramp into the rear of the vehicle. Once the wheelchair is in position, the platform beneath it rotates so you face forwards for the ride.
One companion can sit beside the wheelchair position.
There is also seating for around two or three additional companions in the front row of the same vehicle.
The vehicle remains stationary while you board and unload.
Guests using larger mobility devices may need to transfer to a standard wheelchair if their device cannot be accommodated in the accessible vehicle.

Sensory Experience
What do these sensory tags mean?
- Darkness
- Substantial parts of the experience take place in darkness or very low light.
- Loud Sounds
- Notably loud, startling or sustained sounds are part of the experience.
- Scents
- Noticeable artificial or environmental scents are part of the experience.
Sensory experiences vary between people. These tags describe elements that may be present, not how strongly any individual guest will experience them.
Journey Into Imagination is physically gentle, but it includes several noticeable sensory effects.
Much of the attraction takes place indoors in dimly lit laboratory-style environments, with some scenes becoming quite dark before the lighting changes again.
The Sound Lab includes a simulated train sequence with a sudden, loud sound effect that can feel much more dramatic than the actual movement of the ride vehicle.
The Smell Lab includes a strong artificial scent effect that arrives quite suddenly and can be very noticeable.
Lighting changes frequently as Figment disrupts the different experiments, with bright, colourful scenes following darker sections.
There are no 3D glasses, large physical drops or intense ride forces.
Practical Tips
If strong scents are difficult for you, the Smell Lab is likely to be the most noticeable sensory part of the attraction.
The simulated train sequence can also be surprisingly loud compared with the otherwise gentle pace of the ride.
If the indoor queue is busy, remember that part of the line may extend outdoors before you reach the air-conditioned building.
The attraction is mostly indoors and air-conditioned, so once inside it can be a useful break from the heat while exploring World Celebration.
One small purple dragon causing that much chaos in eight minutes is less an attraction plot and more a remarkably efficient business model.
