Dark Universe Is Getting an Indoor Coaster — Universal Confirms Construction Is Underway
Dark Universe is getting another dose of questionable science. Universal has confirmed a new indoor thrill coaster for Epic Universe, with construction already underway beside Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment.
The announcement, made on 5 November, promises an original story inspired by the Universal Monsters. A name, a detailed storyline and an opening year are still under wraps.

What has Universal actually confirmed?
The new attraction will be an indoor coaster in Dark Universe. Universal describes its opening only as being planned “in the years ahead”, so there is no confirmed date to build a holiday around yet.
It will sit next to Monsters Unchained, but the announcement does not say it will be a sequel to that attraction or use the same ride technology. “Inspired by Universal Monsters” leaves plenty of room for Universal to keep us guessing.
What about the Bride of Frankenstein rumours?
Before the announcement, Orlando ParkStop reported rumours of a Bride of Frankenstein indoor coaster. Today’s news confirms the indoor-coaster part; it does not confirm the Bride, a particular manufacturer or a ride system.
That distinction matters. We have a real attraction announcement now, rather than just a promising patch of construction—but not every theory attached to that patch has suddenly become fact.
What does this mean for your visit?
For now, treat this as something to follow rather than something to book for. Universal has not announced a height requirement, ride vehicles, restraints, transfer arrangements or detailed sensory effects for the coaster.
Indoor does not automatically mean gentle, accessible without a transfer or suitable for someone who finds darkness and intense effects difficult. We’ll need the actual ride and access information before making those comparisons.
If you’re planning Epic Universe, use the attractions available for your travel dates as the basis of your plans. An unspecified future opening is an excellent excuse for another conversation about Orlando; it is a less useful booking deadline.
Our Rides & Attractions directory can help with current boarding and sensory information, while the Universal AAP guide explains the resort’s access process.
