Overview

Storm Force Accelatron is a spinning flat ride in Marvel Super Hero Island where you help Storm generate enough energy to defeat Magneto.

You ride in a circular pod that travels around the centre of the attraction while also spinning independently.

A wheel inside the pod lets riders control how much extra spinning they create, so the experience can range from fairly gentle to extremely dizzying depending on how enthusiastic your group becomes.

There are no drops or launches, but the combination of constant circular movement and rider-controlled spinning can make this feel much more intense than it looks from outside.

Queue Details

The queue is outdoors and leads directly towards the circular loading platform.

Wheelchair users can remain in a standard manual wheelchair through the accessible queue until boarding.

The route is step-free and relatively straightforward, without stairs or long indoor corridors.

The ride stops for loading, so there is no continuously moving walkway to negotiate.

If you need the modified transfer vehicle, tell a Team Member before boarding so they can direct you to the appropriate pod.

Transfer Info

Wheelchair users must transfer completely into the ride vehicle.

A modified ride vehicle is available to make the transfer easier.

The standard pod has a relatively narrow opening in its side. On the modified vehicle, a hinged door opens much wider, creating a larger access point into the pod.

This allows the wheelchair to be positioned closer to the bench seating and reduces how much of the vehicle side needs to be negotiated during the transfer.

You still need to move completely from the wheelchair into the bench seat before riding.

You must be able to take a step into the ride compartment, either independently or with assistance from somebody in your own party.

There is no ride restraint.

If you need the modified vehicle, tell a Team Member before boarding so they can direct you to the correct pod and give you time to position your wheelchair for the transfer.

Sensory Experience

What do these sensory tags mean?
Flashing Lights
Flashing, strobing or rapidly pulsing light effects are used.
Spinning
The ride vehicle or seating rotates around its own axis or repeatedly circles.
Sudden Movement
The ride vehicle, seat or platform makes abrupt starts, stops, jolts or changes of direction.

Sensory experiences vary between people. These tags describe elements that may be present, not how strongly any individual guest will experience them.

Storm Force Accelatron is dominated by spinning.

The entire ride rotates continuously around the central platform, while each individual pod can also be spun manually by the riders.

If somebody in your pod turns the centre wheel aggressively, the amount of spinning can increase dramatically.

There are sudden changes in rotational speed as riders start or stop turning the wheel, so the motion can feel unpredictable if you are sharing the pod with other people.

The attraction is outdoors and visually open, so there are no dark or enclosed sections.

There are loud thunder effects and overhead strobe-style lighting during the ride.

The combination of continuous rotation, additional pod spinning and flashing effects can be particularly challenging for anyone prone to dizziness or motion sickness.

Practical Tips

If spinning rides affect you, the most important thing to know is that you have some control over the intensity. Leaving the centre wheel alone reduces the extra spinning, although the whole attraction will still rotate around the platform.

If you are sharing the pod, agree beforehand whether anyone is going to use the wheel. One enthusiastic spinner can change the experience considerably for everyone else.

The ride is completely outdoors, so heat and sun exposure can matter during the queue.

Service animals can accompany guests, but the vehicle spins continuously and includes loud thunder effects and overhead strobe lighting, so consider whether that environment will be suitable for your animal.

Storm’s plan is apparently to defeat Magneto by generating enough rotational force to make everyone in Marvel Super Hero Island slightly nauseous. It is certainly a strategy.
